Jácint Halász: The Power of Transformation

PROJECT: TRUST, 2021
WORDS & PHOTOGRAPHY: JÁCINT HALÁSZ

Who can we trust if not the people closest to us?

The series Trust is inspired by a relationship with a close friend that ended in betrayal, which hit me quite hard. I wanted to express these feelings I had in me and felt the need to focus on the opposite. That’s when I came to the idea of Trust. Trust, a game where one person sits blindfolded, requires a particular belief and reliance on the other person.
The visual representation of human gestures is also what interests me the most these days so I decided to show those simple gestures through a series of frames. The creative process transformed the unpleasantness of the experience into its ideal version, making me shift from feeling distrust to seeking hope again. When you manage to process emotions or thoughts into a visual critique, you can actively create change.

Learn to use the transformational power of the camera to literally see the world differently through the lens and to create conscious statements.
