Five Quick Questions: Jonathan Chmelensky

Five Quick Questions: Jonathan Chmelensky

1. WHAT’S ON YOUR CURRENT PLAYLIST?

We are just about to start performing the ballet “Mahler 3 Symfoni” by John Neumeier at the Opera House in Copenhagen, so I’m listening to that a lot. Otherwise, Kendrick Lamar albums are always on my playlist for workouts.

2. SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW?

Some people, when seeing me outside the ballet with my civilian clothing, don’t believe me when I say I’m a ballet dancer... I used to be annoyed by it, but now I embrace that, apparently, I don’t look like your “typical ballet dancer.”

3. A RECENT PURCHASE THAT YOU REALLY ENJOY?

I bought a pair of shoes from a Nike and Virgil Abloh collaboration that I adore! I paid a pretty penny for them, but it was totally worth it. Hopefully, the weather in Denmark will soon get better, so I dare to wear them outside.

4. WHAT HABIT ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPLEMENT OR GET RID OF AT THE MOMENT?

I’m trying to regularly drink more water and reduce my coffee consumption.

5. A BOOK THAT CHANGED YOU?

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami is definitely one of those books I can read again every year or so.
