Daphné Lejeune: Creating From Common Ground

Daphné Lejeune: Creating From Common Ground

PROJECT: ORMAIE, VARIOUS WORK
WORDS: DAPHNÉ LEJEUNE
PHOTOGRAPHY: DAPHNÉ LEJEUNE & ANAÏCK LEJART

Work is made so much more fulfilling when you share values with your collaborators. I have been lucky to see the Parisian perfume house Ormaie grow as a brand while I have simultaneously grown as a photographer. I joined the project just a month before they launched. Everything—the perfume, the design, the communication—was ready. My visuals were the last piece of the puzzle for their first campaign. The team put their trust in me and gave me the freedom to convey my own vision. It was stressful to start from scratch but also one of the most exciting opportunities I have had to date.I consistently try to put emphasis on two of Ormaie’s principles: craftsmanship and raw materials. Those same things guide me in my own work and serve as a canvas for all of my shoots for them. With the help of local French artisans, Ormaie’s fragrances are made from natural ingredients and essences. Attention to detail and research are at the forefront of everything that they do. They embody art and nature and strive to be ethical and ecologically minded. Because I grew up in the countryside, immersed in a creative environment, their message resonates deeply with me. A mutual philosophy means that I am poised to create fearless and beautiful images. I am more confident in my work. It’s a privilege to be successful without sacrificing my beliefs, to collaborate with a perfume house that stands for the same things that I do.
